Welcome to my online writer's study. I have been writing essays and long-form nonfiction articles for years--please see some of my work on my About my writing page.

 

More recently I've been writing fiction. My first novel, Safe Harbor, will be published this year by the University of Nevada Press.  

​I'm working on a second, tentatively titled Shelter, and a collection of short stories.

 

I'm very often surprised by this weird impulse to make up stories about the rich inner and outer lives of seemingly ordinary people. (Check out my About my reading page and you'll see what I mean. )

Maybe that's because I see extraordinary qualities in so many of us that need only the right circumstances to bring them out.

I'll also be adding blog posts from time to time, musings about the writing life and about my "real" life that inspires so much of what comes out of my pen.
